The Old Ball and Chain

I’m single. A few of my friends are engaged to be married. I often try to make plans with my friends, but it’s impossible. Unless the girlfriend is out of the country, I am not making plans with my friend, rather I am making plans that “work” for their girlfriends. It’s ridiculous. So, I can’t really hang out with my friends because they inveriably do “couples” things, and unless you are a couple, you are ill advised to attend one of these events. All I’m saying is,  “girlfriends/fiances” in numbers is a great undertaking when you are the lone single. So every time I think I want a girlfriend, I remember the pain I hear in my friends voices when I try make plans with them.

Me: Hey, want to chill tonight?

Friend: Yeah…(pain) wait, I have to check with “girlfriend”.
